GADEM submitted a note and recommendations to the Committee on the Elimination of Racial Discrimination, held on 16 and 17 August in Geneva, at its 77th session for the consideration of the 17th and 18th periodic reports of Morocco on the implementation of the International Convention on the Elimination of All Forms of Racial Discrimination.

In its final observations made public on August 27, 2010, the CERD recommends to Morocco to enshrine in its constitution the principle of the primacy of international treaties over its domestic legislation, in order to give it a general scope and allow litigants to invoke before the courts the relevant provisions of the Convention on the Elimination of All Forms of Racial Discrimination … Morocco has responded to CERD observations in a communication sent in January 2012. The 18th and 19th periodic reports of Morocco are expected in early January 2013.
